AETOS is ranked #97 among CFD brokers. IFC Markets is ranked #97 among CFD brokers.
Aetos is an international forex and CFD broker founded in 2007. Headquartered in Sydney, the broker is licensed by the ASIC, FCA and VFSC and has a global client base in over 100 countries. The firm offers the MetaTrader 4 platform and the minimum deposit to get started is $50. IFC Markets is an STP broker that was founded in 2006 and has since gained 200,000 clients and several awards. This broker has some of the most interesting and wide-ranging additional tools, elevating its clients' trading experience via portfolio quoting, personal composite instruments and extensive analytics.
Pros
  • I’m happy with the broker’s regulatory status, with top-tier licensing from the UK’s FCA and ASIC. This means traders can access compensation schemes and negative balance protection
  • High leverage is available for experienced traders at the Australian branch, up to 1:200. I also found MAM and PAMM accounts are available for eligible money managers
  • Beginners should appreciate the free $10,000 demo account and I like that there’s also a copy trading solution for those who want to follow the strategies of others
  • Alongside the trusted MT4 terminal, I was pleased to see the AutoChartist market analysis and signals tool available for clients
  • Users can choose from the powerful MT4, MT5 or the firm's proprietary NetTradeX platform for all assets
  • I appreciate that the broker offers beginner-friendly Micro accounts with a minimum deposit of just $1
  • The brokerage supports a unique system that allows clients to develop their own synthetic instruments
  • IFC Markets clients can trade more than 600 instruments with fixed or floating spreads from 0.4 pips
  • Clients have a wide range of payment methods and base currencies to choose from
Cons
  • I’m a little disappointed in the small range of assets available at Aetos, with even fewer markets available for UK clients. I would have liked to see a wider range of currency pairs and shares, for example
  • The demo account has a time limit of just 14 days, which I don’t feel is enough for beginners to get acquainted with the platform and test out their first strategies
  • It would have also been nice to see a wider choice of platforms for clients and perhaps a bespoke solution
  • IFC Markets is regulated by the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission, a weak financial regulator
  • I'm disappointed that several payment methods incur steep deposit and withdrawal fees of up to 20%
  • GBP base currency isn't supported, so UK clients will have to pay hefty currency conversion fees

CFD
CFDs are available to trade manually in the MT4 platform, or via the broker’s copy trading solution which allows you to automatically copy other strategies. I also appreciate that the broker offers a demo account with $10,000 in virtual funds so you can practice CFD trading strategies risk-free. IFC Markets clients can access CFDs across commodities, cryptos, indices and ETFs. I’m pleased to see that assets are all available on MT4, MT5 and NetTradeX with decent leverage rates of up to 1:400.

Forex
My tests uncovered only 27 currency pairs at Aetos, which is below the industry average. Leverage is available up to 1:200 for Australian clients but I’m not overly impressed with the 1.8-pip average spreads for EUR/USD. Top competitors typically offer the same pair for around 1 pip in a standard-level account. I like that there’s a decent range of 50+ major, minor and exotic forex pairs available at IFC Markets, with just a $1 minimum deposit. That said, spreads are fixed from 1.8 pips, which isn’t the lowest I’ve seen.

IFC Markets also boasts a good selection of 15 cryptocurrency CFD pairs and I’m particularly impressed to see Bitcoin futures on offer. The free demo account is an excellent place to start if you want to practice your crypto trading strategies.
