AETOS is ranked #97 among CFD brokers. FP Markets is ranked #65 among CFD brokers.
Aetos is an international forex and CFD broker founded in 2007. Headquartered in Sydney, the broker is licensed by the ASIC, FCA and VFSC and has a global client base in over 100 countries. The firm offers the MetaTrader 4 platform and the minimum deposit to get started is $50. FP Markets is an ASIC- and CySEC-regulated broker that offers forex and CFD trading on a broad range of assets through the MT4, MT5 and IRESS platforms. With trading available through standard and raw spread accounts on thousands of international stocks, forex, indices, commodities, cryptocurrencies, bonds and ETFs, this broker has some of the most comprehensive market coverage available. FP Markets also offers a full range of additional features, including educational resources and access to powerful software such as Autochartist.
Pros
  • I’m happy with the broker’s regulatory status, with top-tier licensing from the UK’s FCA and ASIC. This means traders can access compensation schemes and negative balance protection
  • High leverage is available for experienced traders at the Australian branch, up to 1:200. I also found MAM and PAMM accounts are available for eligible money managers
  • Beginners should appreciate the free $10,000 demo account and I like that there’s also a copy trading solution for those who want to follow the strategies of others
  • Alongside the trusted MT4 terminal, I was pleased to see the AutoChartist market analysis and signals tool available for clients
  • Regulated and reputable broker with ASIC and CySEC oversight
  • Tight spreads available on both the standard and raw spread account
  • Good range of additional tools and features including educational content, Myfxbook and Autochartist
  • Excellent line-up of charting platforms including MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView
  • Bespoke copy trading platform
  • High leverage up to 1:500
Cons
  • I’m a little disappointed in the small range of assets available at Aetos, with even fewer markets available for UK clients. I would have liked to see a wider range of currency pairs and shares, for example
  • The demo account has a time limit of just 14 days, which I don’t feel is enough for beginners to get acquainted with the platform and test out their first strategies
  • It would have also been nice to see a wider choice of platforms for clients and perhaps a bespoke solution
  • $55 subscription fee on IRESS accounts
  • Withdrawal fees for some payment types
  • Does not accept US customers

Aetos offers a proprietary copy trading solution which allows you to save time and automatically copy the trades of other users. You can view useful profitability stats of each 'master' trader before subscribing, and I like that parameters including stop loss and take profit are flexible. CFD
CFDs are available to trade manually in the MT4 platform, or via the broker’s copy trading solution which allows you to automatically copy other strategies. I also appreciate that the broker offers a demo account with $10,000 in virtual funds so you can practice CFD trading strategies risk-free. FP Markets' CFD trading covers a range of markets, including 10,000+ equities, indices, commodities, cryptocurrencies and ETFs. Spreads are tight and traders get fast execution speeds.

Forex
My tests uncovered only 27 currency pairs at Aetos, which is below the industry average. Leverage is available up to 1:200 for Australian clients but I’m not overly impressed with the 1.8-pip average spreads for EUR/USD. Top competitors typically offer the same pair for around 1 pip in a standard-level account. FP Markets is a good option for forex traders, with 70+ pairs covering an excellent range of currencies. Spreads are already tight on standard accounts and start from zero on raw spread accounts, and the broker offers high leverage up to 1:500 and top-tier liquidity.
