work from homeBusiness in the 21st century has changed significantly and one of those changes involves allowing employees to work from home. A number of companies across the globe are adopting new policies and benefits to make their employment opportunities more attractive and one such benefit is allowing employees the opportunity to work out of their home office.

Regus, who are global workforce providers, recently conducted an international survey of senior business leaders to find out how many of them worked from their home office. The survey received feedback from 44,000 business consultants in over one hundred countries and the results showed that more executives work out of a home office in western countries when compared to eastern countries. Out of these 44,000 business consultants, 61% admitted to working out of a home office but only 51% of them said their home office is professional.

In a statement, Michael Ormiston, Country Manager, Regus Hong Kong said that “The financial benefits of remote working for both staff and employer are clear, yet many businesses are currently missing out on a valuable opportunity by failing to fully commit. On the one hand there is a clear business advantage to ensuring staff are able to work effectively and safely when away from the office, on the other, the figures suggest that too many firms risk incurring higher expenses by not regulating remote work environments”.

Regus released the survey and also stated that if businesses invest a small amount into helping professionals set up their home office, they will be able to be a lot more productive.
